Mold Repair Technician
Duties/Responsibilities
- Evaluate Tool Maintenance Request (TMR)
- Perform required repair and/or maintenance
- Ensure spare mold components are fit properly
- Inform management of delay to expected delivery dates

Mold Maker
Duties/Responsibilities
- Review tool design (model, drawings)
- Identify areas for improved construction & ease of machining
- Inform other departments of projects needs (EDM, CNC, polish, etc.)
- Communicate with management, support needed to meet delivery date (mold makers, apprentices, etc.)
- Assure all mold components are received before final assembly
- Train apprentices
- Verify accuracy & quality of work done by others under your supervision

Sinker EDM Operator
Description
We’re looking for a skilled CNC EDM Sinker Specialist to join our Tool Room Team. In this role, you’ll program, set-up, and operate CNC EDM equipment to manufacture precision tooling and mold components that support high quality, efficient production.

What you will do:
- Program, set-up, and operate CNC sinker EDM machines.
- Manufacture precision tooling, mold components, and fixtures to engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and engineering drawings.
- Diagnose machining and programming issues and implement effective solutions.
- Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment to ensure dimensional
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in programming and operating CNC EDM equipment (sinker EDM).
- Strong knowledge of tooling, machining practices, and precision manufacturing.
- Ability to read blue prints and work to close tolerances.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of injection molding process and tooling requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with problem solving ability.

Education and Experience Requirements

Tool eNGINEER
Duties/Responsibilities
- Critique product designs for mold build (DFM review)
- Assure proper draft, shrink and tolerance sizing are incorporated into mold design
- Assure design meets customer expectations& standards
- Perform CAE analysis as required
- Provide 2-D and 3-D mold designs to build injection mold tooling to shop

Mold Polisher
Position Description: Join our Tool Room team as a Mold Polisher, where your precision and craftsmanship help produce high-quality tooling. In this hands-on role, you will inspect, polish, and finish mold cavities, cores, and tooling components to exact specifications, ensuring optimal mold performance and exceptional part quality. Working closely with Mold Makers, this position ensures tooling meets quality standards by inspecting for defects, understanding critical mold features, and producing precision finishes that support optimal mold performance and part quality. The Mold Polisher also maintains polishing equipment and supplies while promoting a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect mold cavities, cores, and tooling components for defects, imperfections, or damage prior to polishing.
- Review each job with the assigned Mold Maker to understand critical surfaces, finish requirements, and areas requiring special attention.
- Polish mold cavities, cores, inserts, and other tooling components to specified surface finish requirements using appropriate polishing techniques and equipment.
- Verify that finished surfaces meet quality expectations and report any concerns or abnormalities to the Mold Maker or Supervisor.
- Order, organize, and maintain polishing supplies, compounds, abrasives, and equipment to ensure availability and proper condition.
- Perform routine care and maintenance of polishing equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with Mold Makers and other team members to support tooling repairs, maintenance, and production priorities.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
- Perform additional duties as need to support business operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required Education/Skills/Abilities:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Previous polishing, machining, manufacturing, or tool room experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of polishing abrasives, stones, rotary cutters, mounted points, and related polishing materials; familiarity with benching tools such as hand grinders, files, and similar equipment.
- Ability to safely operate all required polishing equipment, including ultrasonic polishers/profilers and related equipment.
- A team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality work.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.

Mol-Son’s apprenticeship program has successfully produced over 40 skilled Toolmakers, Specialty Operators, and Mold Makers. We are proud to partner with Tooling U-SME, a nationally accredited educational organization that offers a comprehensive four-year program.
This program combines online classroom education with hands-on training and real-world job experience, ensuring our apprentices are fully prepared to meet industry demands.
